Our Story
Back in 2017, our founder, Robbie Madfis, was burned out from startup life and found refuge in the kitchen. Out of late-night cravings and wild flavor experiments came something unexpected: California Medjool dates, stuffed with spicy sunflower butter and dunked in dark chocolate. What began as a blog (shoutout to “Just Recipes”) quickly gained a following.
Today, Hot Date Kitchen has grown to serve people just as obsessed with quality, taste, and values. We still hand-make every date in Rhode Island. We still stuff them with only the best — single-origin spices, sustainable ingredients, and zero BS. And we still believe snacking can be hot — indulgent, functional, and aligned with your values.
Our Non-GMO dates sustainably grown in California. Zero synthetic fertilizers, low pesticide usage, and regenerative soil and water practices.
Our spices come from Burlap & Barrel, a Public Benefit Corp that sources non-GMO, single-origin spices directly from smallholder farmers and foragers.
Our Non-GMO sunflower butter comes from SunButter, using U.S. grown sunflower irrigated by rainfall and snowpack, requiring no ground water.
Our Non-GMO chocolate comes from Republic del Cacao (B-Corp Certified) and is sourced directly from small Ecuadorian farmers following sustainable growing practices.
Our Massachussets Roasted, Fair-Trade coffee comes from Dean's Beans Organic Coffee, 100% employee-owned company sourcing their beans from co-ops paying well above market price.
